First Family,
Have you ever seen the I Love Lucy episode where she gets a job at a chocolate factory?
There is a famous scene in which Lucy is working on the factory line wrapping chocolates. In the beginning she is doing fairly well while seemly enjoying herself. Then the line supervisor calls for the line to speed up. Her face begins to physically change as she is overwhelmed and simply cannot get it done as chocolates begin spilling out onto the floor.
If you have never seen the clip, you can find it on YouTube, it’s worth the watch to bring a bit of laughter to your day.
It has been my experience that sometimes life feels this way. There are moments where things are so busy and moving so fast that they are spilling out on the floor, and we are feeling defeated.
This may seem counterintuitive but when life comes at me like this, I pause and take moment to be still with the Lord. I sacrifice my already limited time and compromise productivity to be still in the Lord’s presence. This time of stillness and prayer does not shorten my to do list or lessen the demands on my time, but it does reprioritize my thinking and put me in a better place to face the challenge ahead.
This Sunday we are pushing the pause button as a church to dwell in the presence of God.
This is an incredibly busy season for the life of our church, and we are going to come together as one congregation in one service at 10:30am to be still before the Lord. This service will be a moment for us to seek God together and be still. Amongst the craziness of this season, we choose to step away and focus on God. To sacrifice our time and invest it in our relationship with the Lord.
I hope you will join us! Seeking God Together!
