Pastor Robert Stephens
Church Family,
I want to provide you with a quick Stephens Family update.
It is a joy to write this week's pastor blog from our lease home here in Alexandria, VA. The Lord provided us with a perfect home for the next six months in the Hayfield community. This allows us to finish selling our home in TX and begin looking for a home here in Alexandria. Only through God’s provision have we been able to have our home in Texas under contract this quickly, with an anticipated closing in mid-February. God is so good as He continues to affirm our faith in following His call to join FBCA. Please pray for us as we search for a new home in the months ahead. We know this is so important for our family, but even more so, we believe there is an opportunity for His Kingdom. Whom we live by matters, and we desire the Lord would place us in a “field ripe for the harvest."
In addition, our children started school today at Hayfield Elementary. April and I could escort all three kids to meet their new teachers and tour their classrooms. God has indeed done a great thing in their hearts. My prayer for them through this transition has been from 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” Today they were filled with confidence as they walked into their new school for the first time.
Finally, I will begin moving into the church offices later this week. At the start of the year, I conducted one-on-one conversations with each staff member and participated in most meetings from Texas. This week I will lead our staff meetings, and “Lord willing,” I plan to attend on Sunday for Worship.
Thank you all for the love and support you have shown my family and me through this transition. You have blessed us in many ways, and we are proud to call First Baptist Church of Alexandria our new home.
Blessings,
The Stephens Family
