Post-SBC Meeting

First Family,

There are times when it might seem like the better option to avoid confronting someone about an issue. However, turning a blind eye to problems can lead to more harm than good. Let me take a moment and share my personal feeling with you about the proposed amendment to the Southern Baptist Convention.

As a lifelong member of the Southern Baptist Church, I am disheartened by the recent decision to support the proposed amendment. The direction the convention is taking goes against one of the core principles of the Baptist faith - the autonomy of each local church. I don't want us to be forced to sever ties with the convention. There will always be concerns within the church that are “disputable matters.” However, these concerns do not have to be as divisive as this one has become. The Southern Baptist community has worked hard together for many years to advance the Gospel, and it's heartbreaking to see such a strong partnership threatened.

Our Quarterly Business Meeting will be held on July 9th at 6 pm in person in the sanctuary. We will proceed with our regular business as scheduled, and after that, we will have a "family meeting" for members to participate in. During this time, I will provide all the details of the SBC constitution amendment and offer four recommendations. We will also have a Q&A session to address any questions or concerns. This will be an excellent opportunity for us to come together, share our thoughts, and gain clarity on the matter. Any decisions that need to be made will be considered at a later time.

With a heavy heart, we walk through this process.

Servant for His Glory,
Pastor Robert
