The Student Ministry Search Team is pleased to announce that upon the recommendation of the search team and with the approval of the Personnel Committee, Peter Wimberly has been selected to fill the position of Co-Director of Student Ministry.

Peter is well-qualified for this role by education and experience. Peter earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Ministry from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2017. Peter is currently serving as Student Minister at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Texas, where he has served since January of 2020. Prior to that, he served as Youth Ministry Intern at First Baptist Church Killeen in Killeen, Texas and as Student Minister at Austin Street Baptist Church in Yoakum, Texas. Peter’s youth ministry experience includes planning and leading Sunday morning and Wednesday night youth programming, executing DNOW, and planning and leading youth mission trips. Peter also has experience organizing and executing an annual summer camp for 5th and 6th grade students, as well as leading groups of college students to Passion conferences. He has a deep passion for building and maintaining relationships with students of all ages and helping them grow in their faith and walk with Jesus Christ.

Peter and his wife, Lauren, who works in the medical field as an ultrasound technician, will be moving to Alexandria next month and Peter will attend Youth Camp from June 15-19. A welcome reception for Peter and Lauren will be held on Sunday, June 30, following the Youth Choir Concert, beginning at 6p. Make plans now to attend and welcome the Wimberlys to FBCA. Please pray for Peter and Lauren as they relocate to Virginia, and for Peter and Shonica as they move forward as Co-Directors to lead our Student Ministry.
