Construction Zone Prayer Walk
Door 1 MEMORY: Consider some of the memories you have of the sanctuary. Thank God for those good experiences. Thank God for the people who sacrificed and gave to build this building. Ask God to provide good memories for those who will come here in the next 10, 20, 30 years.
Door 2 PRESENCE: Many Old Testament people believed God dwelled in the tabernacle or the temple. The New Testament teaches that the Spirit of God dwells inside of believers. Ask God to make you aware of His presence wherever you are.
Door 3 ATTITUDE: God realizes that change is hard for us; ask God to help those who are having difficulty with the changes. Pray for a new vision of God moving in this congregation.
Door 4 WITNESS: Ask God to grant us opportunities during construction to bear witness to those meeting here throughout the week. Pray that the staff would take full advantage of every opportunity to encourage those who are here.
Door 5 PATIENCE: Ask God to give us patience as we enter this new season. Pray that we will be considerate and gracious over the course of what we know will be a large and complicated task.
Door 6 LEADERSHIP: Pray for the pastors, staff, deacons, Bible fellowship leaders, Weekday Preschool faculty, committee and commission members, and all who are in positions of responsibilities. Ask God to provide them with wisdom and stamina.
Door 7 GUESTS: Pray earnestly for the guests who will come to our church during renovation and after the building is completed. Ask that God would use us to welcome them warmly and provide for them a community to call home.
Door 8 VISION: Ask God to give us a clear vision of how we might use the renovated building to bless the community of Alexandria and bring those who do not know God to faith in Christ.
Door 9 SAFETY: Ask God to protect those who will be working on the building throughout the construction project. Pray that they would feel used by God and take pride in their work.
Door 10 CONFESSION: Think back through the last week and ask God to show you when you did not love God with your whole heart, or when you did not love your neighbor as yourself, or when you did not do what God would have you do. Ask God to forgive you.
Door 11 ADORATION: Consider three names of God or attributes of God that seem especially appropriate given these moments in our church’s story. Praise God for His faithfulness and direction in guiding our steps.
